SandBox for the Benelux

The SandBox is the simplest way to try out OpenStack Queens Cloud Software. Therefore we have built a continuously growing OpenStack test environment with hardware and software that has been made available by several suppliers. The use of the SandBox is free of charge. On this OpenStack platform  you can test how your applications operate on an OpenStack environment. To log into the SandBox, you first sign up as a member on (Member registration).


Only when you are logged in as a member you can apply for an account for the SandBox.

How does it work?

How do I create an account?

Before you can sign up for the SandBox you must first sign up as a member of at the top of this page via Member registration. Registering is easiest via the LinkedIn button or send an e-mail to

As a member you can ask questions on and react and share knowledge with the community. At the bottom of this page we list all the posts of members. Only when you are logged in as a member you can apply for an account for the SandBox.


How long does it take to get an account?

It can take a while before you get access to the Sandbox because we do the handling to create accounts manually. For this we ask some patience.

How can I get help?

We offer different ways to get help you. Of course you can always ask your question on There are a few great avenues available to get help. What can I do with the SandBox?

The SandBox resembles the type of cloud environment you can create on your own with OpenStack Software.

Is the use of the SandBox unlimited?

We have set a few sensible limits in place for the good of the project. First, the server instances you launch are only available for 120 hours until the hardware is reclaimed for use by new instances. We also assess the use of the SandBox on ‘fair usage’. At all time we can decide to close your access and remove your test environment and data.

Is there a SLA on the SandBox?

Since this Sandbox is managed by volunteers, there is no SLA. The Sandbox may go down from time to time for maintenance or to upgrade to the latest release of OpenStack.

What about quotas?

When you first get your account, it will be preloaded with a limited quota. Don’t get too hung up on your quota, we have to keep limits in place to prevent abuse.

Ik heb contact met een directeur van een hosting partij die op zoek is naar een oplossing die het uitrollen van virtuele machines en opslagcapaciteit, de facturatie en het orderproces hiervan automatiseert en voor de klant vereenvoudigt. Is dit mogelijk met OpenStack?

OpenStack helpt hostingpartijen Infrastructuur als zelfbediening te leveren. Het fundament wordt hierbij gelegd met kerncomponenten als het Dashboard, Authenticatie en Telemetrie. Met aanvullende tooling zoals Atomia kun je de zelfbediening verder uitbreiden tot aan facturatie en auto-provisioning. Voor andere branches zijn dergelijke specifieke aanvullende oplossingen ook beschikbaar.
