"With the OpenStack SandBox you can test free of charge how to make your applications land on an OpenStack platform."
The OpenStack.nl SandBox is the simplest way to try out OpenStack Queens Cloud Software. Therefore we have built a continuously growing OpenStack test environment with hardware and software that has been made available by several suppliers. The use of the OpenStack.nl SandBox is free of charge. On this OpenStack platform you can test how your applications operate on an OpenStack environment. To log into the OpenStack.nl SandBox, you first sign up as a member on OpenStack.nl (Member registration).
Only when you are logged in as a member you can apply for an account for the OpenStack.nl SandBox.
How do I create an account?
Before you can sign up for the OpenStack.nl SandBox you must first sign up as a member of OpenStack.nl at the top of this page via Member registration. Registering is easiest via the LinkedIn button or send an e-mail to OpenStackNLD@Fairbanks.nl.
As a member you can ask questions on OpenStack.nl and react and share knowledge with the community. At the bottom of this page we list all the posts of members. Only when you are logged in as a member you can apply for an account for the OpenStack.nl SandBox.
How long does it take to get an account?
It can take a while before you get access to the OpenStack.nl Sandbox because we do the handling to create accounts manually. For this we ask some patience.
How can I get help?
We offer different ways to get help you. Of course you can always ask your question on OpenStack.nl. There are a few great avenues available to get help. For quick API reference, the OpenStack Compute and OpenStack Identity APIs are well documented at api.openstack.org. It would also serve you well to spend a moment reading the API Guide. More OpenStack documentation is also available at docs.openstack.org. For very specific questions or advice about your own private OpenStack environment you can send an email with your question to: email@example.com.
What can I do with the OpenStack.nl SandBox?
The OpenStack.nl SandBox resembles the type of cloud environment you can create on your own with OpenStack Software.
Is the use of the OpenStack.nl SandBox unlimited?
We have set a few sensible limits in place for the good of the project. First, the server instances you launch are only available for 120 hours until the hardware is reclaimed for use by new instances. We also assess the use of the SandBox OpenStack.nl on ‘fair usage’. At all time we can decide to close your access and remove your test environment and data.
Is there a SLA on the OpenStack.nl SandBox?
Since this OpenStack.nl Sandbox is managed by volunteers, there is no SLA. The OpenStack.nl Sandbox may go down from time to time for maintenance or to upgrade to the latest release of OpenStack.
What about quotas?
When you first get your account, it will be preloaded with a limited quota. Don’t get too hung up on your quota, we have to keep limits in place to prevent abuse.
